Has anybody else experienced problems dowloading big (100+MB) avi-files from the video archive?

My downloads keep getting irretrievably aborted...

Maybe it's my slow connection? (700 kB/s)

Try just watching them. They are stored in your IE folder. There are usually four folders with random characters. It typically contains your history, pictures/vid/music. You can go to these folders and copy and paste the video name on your desktop and watch it as much as you want. 700kbs is not the best. You really need atleast 1.5 mg a second. Are you on a router? Do you have other programs running in the background? It could also be your codec version. Windows updates usally has that fix.

Thanks, but I don't want the flv-files you get when watching. But I had to make do with some of those for now...

I meant simply downloading the avi-files per the 'Download'-option. I seem to keep running into the Download-Limit while actually still in the process of downloading a big file...

So if someone with a similar connection speed (700 kB[kilobyte]/s) can 'Download' (not 'Watch') the videos without problem, I'll definitely know to worry about some rogue program in my setup

Try this one:

Yeah - there's definitely something wrong with that link - nothing downloads. I get a 0 KB avi file - that can't be right :doubtful:

If you mean a per to per file , i must tell you what i began 10 years ago with my favulous 56 K modem... :totalhappy: .... i remember what i download a file with 30 Mb... i need 4 hours for download it...
now if you want high speed for download a file, i can recomend rapidshare or megaupload... it cost 10$ but you can download all what you want with very high speed... i have 300 K... but i can download 700 Mb file with 30 minutes...
its 300 k bit... not 300 Kbytes... this is very different , is the lies about internet companys of this countrys...

There was indeed a problem. The download stopped for me after a few seconds either. I have uploaded the whole file again and was now able to get it within 2 minutes (2,3 MB/s). Please try it again.

Don't bother, pal. It is probably some CAM/TS quality. Recorded with a video camera in theater. This will most likely ruin your whole experience.
Either go to the theater or if you cannot afford it wait for some better scene release

Still doesn't work for me. The download stops after 70 MB. Anyway, that link was just meant as an example for any large file from the video archive. Recently I didn't even manage to download the late night talkshows...

To clarify: I don't have problems with downloading from one-click hosters or watching streaming videos. I only have trouble downloading from the EPO video archive.

That's why I don't blame my ISP or my general setup, yet. If everything else works fine, I can't be doing too much wrong...

Dead 'Download'-links: .................
I have the same problems (using Chrome browser).
The News page download links gives me this error:
You have reached the download limit,
please wait 29 minutes before downloading additional videos
[Update] About an hour later and the News page links now are OK but the links in Bifrons post still give the error message:
Warning: fopen(/kunden/165942_76532/webseiten/ellenpage/download/eventclips/videos/epo_Sigandstuff_InceptionLosAngelesPremiere_13jul2010_XviD) [function.fopen]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /kunden/165942_76532/webseiten/ellenpage/download/eventclips/download.php on line 124

The download-limit is a new feature and it's supposed to prevent you from downloading multiple files in a row. Not sure about the exact parameters...

But I suspect it also prevents me from downloading big files...

The dead links are just that. A small hiccup. Totally different matter, sorry.

@ funkenderstadt
No, I did not download your file. It is 34.09 MB big but should be 290 MB big. So it seems you actually have the same problem without realizing it...

The event video IDs 183-196 should work now. I've fixed some typos in the config file (the .avi was missing).

It's not an error, it's a feature :D You can only download 5 videos within 30 minutes. Like Bifrons said, this was necessary to prevent visitors from downloading all clips at once. Furthermore, since almost nobody is willing to donate some money, I was forced to implement this limit in order to keep the costs low.

Since I don't know the exact reason why the download stops, I will talk to my web hoster and ask for technical assistance.

Just in case someone else experiences problems:

Dominik found the problem. The download of a file will definitely terminate after somewhere between 90 to 180 seconds (different with every download). So, you better make sure your connection is fast enough...

A solution would need a complete re-think and overhaul of the whole archive. This might take some time, since I'm the only one complaining and there's actually exciting stuff happening right now...

FYI: I have finally found a solution and will now move on to the testing phase of the new download script.
[Update] Update 08/06/2010
After Bifrons has tested it successfully yesterday, I have implemented a new download script today. All downloads should work fine now!
